Fun information from Elle Decor on how we can make our home look fresh and young to new buyers!
1) My personal favorite: White and creme paint. But be careful here: choose your paint and decor carefully to coordinate; otherwise it can appear sterile. Focus on tone on tone with a pop of color, like blue or green.
2) Stripes. Blue and white or black and white. Nothing garish.
3) Wood floors. A timeless floor is beautiful hardwood. Strip your floor if the finish is shiny and refinish in a matte.
4) Sun-resistant fabrics: If you have windows that allow the sun to hit during the day, your fabrics age.
5) Update your throw pillows to match the season. Pillows can add life and make a room feel brand new!
6) Being a literature teacher, I love this one: Books. They never go out of style, especially the hardcover and leather bound. If you’re putting your home on the market, box up those paperbacks and take the paper covers off of the hardcover books. Choose carefully and arrange them in different ways to declutter. Believe it or not, some people judge your home based on the books you read. Again, choose carefully. If you do not own the classics, take a trip to your local bookstore and purchase some beautiful home decor books that they have on sale. Arrange by color.
7) Imperfect pieces. Timeless class.
8) Art you love. Don’t buy trendy. Buy or better yet paint something classic of your own.
9) Minimal tech support. Make your office attractive and inviting. Declutter and lose all of the “technology” that is unnecessary. Try to make it a part of the beauty of the room
